Bridges: A Southern Colorado Student Literary Conference

David Mason currently teaches at Colorado College. His list of works includes The Buried Houses (winner of the Nicholas Roerich Poetry Prize),
The Country I Remember (winner of the Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award),
and Arrivals. His verse novel, Ludlow, will be published later this year.

CALL FOR PAPERS

 

 

 

An interdisciplinary student literary conference seeking to bring students from across the southern Colorado region together and provide them with the opportunity to share ideas. Students grades 6-12 interested in participating are encouraged to submit a proposal by February 18, 2007.

Possible topics include:

 

• Poetry (3-5 poems, not to exceed 7 min. total)

• Fiction

• Narrative Essay

• Contemporary Persuasive Issue

• Cultural Identity

• Gender or Age Bias

• Historical Reference

• Scientific Exploration

• Art appreciation

• Music Appreciation

• Performance Poetry*

• Dramatic Monologue*

• Musical Solo*

• Other topics welcome, as well as use of any audio-visual mediums such as PowerPoint, iMovie, Website/Blog, etc.

 

*Performance Poetry, Dramatic Monologues and Music Solos allow students to “perform” rather than present. They may perform original work or the work(s) of other artists provided that they “act out” their pieces and restrict their performance to no more than 10 min.
